During the first part of April AwB members attended three photography sessions at Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve for a Nature inspired project with Kent Wildlife Trust and Sevenoaks Camera Club. The project is part of a multi arts activity which includes original music composed by Band Without Boundaries. From the hundreds of photos taken by the seven participants just 50 were then selected for an exhibition on 30th April at the reserve. However many more of the photos will provide the visual element of the music video. All the photographers were featured in the exhibition.
The standard of the photography was so good that a member of the public viewing the exhibition thought we were professional photographers! Our participants included someone who had never taken photos before and some who had only done so rarely. Everyone enjoyed being outside ‘immersed’ in Nature and felt they had become more observant and were looking at things with a new perspective. The inclusive social element was really important to everyone and they are all keen for more photo opportunities!
The Chair of the Sevenoaks District Arts Council, which supported the purchase of an easy use camera device, visited the exhibition and said I am delighted that SDAC has been able to support something … of particular worth because of the huge benefit it so obviously provides for your clients.
This project was funded by Sevenoaks District Council and Sevenoaks District Arts Council, to whom we are very grateful.
